Eyelash Extensions, Lash Lifts or Lash Tint: Which is Best for You?

You absolutely can have those thick eyelashes that you’ve always wanted. Never before have you had more ways to enhance your eyes and reduce the amount of time it takes you to put on makeup.

In 2004, eyelash extensions entered the American beauty landscape. Celebs like Paris Hilton and Jennifer Lopez launched the eyelash trend that has only grown as stars like Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian raised our awareness of amazing eyelash enhancements.

Today, women of all ages have access to eyelash services performed by talented lash artists like the gals at Heart of Texas Lashes!

Great Reasons to Enhance Your Eyes

Eyelash tints, lifts, and extensions have grown in popularity because they really do pay off as investments in your appearance. With your newly glamorous eyes, you’re ready to take a great Selfie on the spur of the moment for social media!

Eyelash extensions allow you to skip applying mascara or, worse yet, cleaning it up when it runs. Your lashes are full and dark without mascara from the moment you wake up until you go to sleep.

Alternatively, eyelash lifts (often combined with lash tinting) leave your lashes perfectly curled! The look is more subtle than extensions, but still quite striking.

If you’ve got a special occasion coming up like a wedding or reunion, treat yourself to eyelash services! You’ll walk out of our lash studio looking and feeling your absolute best.

What Are Eyelash Services?

You and a lash artist can work out a customized approach to achieve a dazzling set of eyelashes based on your tastes and preferences. Your choice of eyelash service includes eyelash extensions, eyelash lifts, and eyelash tints. Let’s take a quick review of each so you know which eyelash service will best meet your needs.

Eyelash Extensions

For maximum effect, you may want eyelash extensions. Lash extensions are applied to our natural eyelashes. Your lash artist adds individual lashes to each of your individual, natural lashes using medical grade adhesive.

The lash extension is placed about 3 millimeters away from your skin. Neither the adhesive nor the faux lash touches the eyelid.

This process builds lustrous lashes that are much fuller and longer than your natural lashes.

Pros:

Eyelash extensions really add drama to your eyes. The thick, long lashes define your eyes clearly without needing mascara. In fact, the extensions are so pronounced by themselves, that it often spares you from having to add eyeliner, eye shadow or mascara. Skipping all three can save you between 10-15 minutes on your beauty routine each day. You can literally just comb out your lashes, add a bit of blush, lip gloss and you’re ready for the day!

Cons:

You need to find an experienced and well-trained technician. You don’t want the work done by just anyone. Otherwise, the results could look clumpy or even damage your existing lashes.

Overtime, the semi-permanent lash extensions gradually loosen and begin to fall off between 2-3 weeks depending on how oily your eyelids are. The upkeep can be kind of a pain, having to go back for an eyelash fill every two to four weeks.

Additionally, for a small number of people, the adhesive is irritating. If that happens to you, then lifts and tints are alternatives to explore.

Eyelash Lifts

At a lash lift appointment, nothing is added to your eyelids. Rather, your lash artist treats your natural eyelashes. As you know, eyelashes are a relatively stiff form of human hair. Through the application of a non-toxic chemical, the hairs are softened so that the lash artist can reshape them.

Eyelash lifts are sort of like a perm for your lashes.

The lifting effect comes from sorting the lashes into an orderly row and curling them. This creates upright lashes with a uniform curl. The technique overcomes any issues your lashes might have with tangling or hanging straight. The results frame your eyes more boldly than unaltered lashes.

You might consider a lash lift after extension removal if you don’t want to bother with monthly maintenance. With lifts, you can expect maintenance-free good looks for four to six weeks.

The pros and cons of lash lift are pretty straightforward. First, longer-lasting results and minimal maintenance make lash lifts an attractive choice. The results lack the boldness of extensions but are perfect if you want something a little more subtle.

That said, there are some drawbacks to eyelash lifts. You need to wait 24 to 48 hours after the lift procedure before you can touch your lashes or put on mascara. More importantly, a lash lift simply will not work if your natural lashes are thin or very short. In that case, definitely opt for eyelash extensions.

Eyelash Tints

Fair-haired women who desire darker lashes will definitely be interested in lash tint service. During a short 20 or 30 minute appointment, your lash artist essentially colors your lashes with semi-permanent, vegetable dye.

Many women choose tinting in conjunction with lifting for dark and dazzling lashes.

With lash tints, there’s no need to deal with mascara. You’ll look gorgeous naturally and your lashes stay dark for weeks! But again, tinting can only do so much if your natural lashes are thin and short.
